Question number 1: My super 55 HC is in good running order. Is that powerfull enough to run a square baler? I have a new Holland 273 square baler that I ran last year my first time baling with my JD 720D. It would be nice to try my Oliver to bale.

Question number 2: Seems my generators regulator has fried. I had a mechanic over and he tested it to see that it wasnt charging anymore and that the ground wire to the regulator had come off and he suspects that fried the regulator. My parts book shows that I should have Delco generator/regulator, part number 1118790. BUT my generator is a Wilson not a Delco so it must have been changed over the years. Not knowing much on this, do I need to find a Wilson regulator or will the Delco regulator part number I have go on the Wilson generator I have. Rather not by a new generator all together.

I know from first hand experience that an 55 will pull a baler. My friend pulled his IH 27 baler with his 55 when his 88 broke the frame. The 55 handled the baler with ease in 2nd and 3rd with out a wagon. I got the lucky job of following him picking them up off the ground.

Brad is right your 55 will do just fine baling. We useto use one baling peanut hay when I was a boy and it did great. He is also right about the Delco. Have fun baling.

Your super 55 approx 30-35 horse should run baler fine. The Wilson name you see on the generator is the name of the rebuilding co.The generator & regulator are still delco-remy. ~brad
