The fuel and water temp guages on the old '59 Oliver 550 purchased recently do not work. Can anyone recommend a way to check what might be wrong? Also, I'd love to find operators and shop repair manuals on CD ROM for this machine. Thanks.

You can find the CD ROM on ebay almost all of the time. It's the repair manual. I am not sure if they have parts manuals on disc. Be aware that it only works on PC and not Mac, unless they changed that from when I bought mine.

The quickest way to see if the guages work, is make sure they have a power supply/proper gruond, then touch the sender wire to the frame and ground it out. If the guage is good/hooked up correctly, the fuel will peg to full and temp to hot. I just recently bought some new 3 wire guages from Ag parts First for my 1600. Oddly enough, I didn't even have them properly grounded yet and they worked, which kinda threw me for a loop. A good place to look for literature of any kind is Amazon.com. You'll find almost anything your heart's desire there. I just bought "Oliver Hart-Parr" a few minutes ago myself. Now I'm looking forward to getting it sometime next week!
