Need some help. I got my 35 put together today and went to start it. It would not start with battery, pulled about 2 feet running. Drove it around mades some adjustments to carb, ran very good. Shut it off would not start, pulled 2 feet running. When it is running it runs real nice, but will not start with battery. I have installed new points, plugs, wires and coil. I set the points at .020 seems to have fire when looking at points open a close. What am I over looking? It can not be much, it runs to good.

Maybe...just maybe the wire that gets power from the keyswitch is not hooked to the proper post and is not putting power to the ignition when its starting???

we have 2 35's ( a standard and and L)

More info. This tractor is 6 volt. This morning after much grinding with starter it started (once), ran fine, shut it off no start. Out of knowing nothing more to try I put a 12 volt battery on it, lifted wire from generator and pushed starter, instant running. If I have the generator put to 12 volt and change the starter solonid to 12 volt, does anything have to be done to coil, points or plugs, starter to be 12 volt?? I would rather stay 6 volt, but would like for it to start.

they put resisters in line or get a 12v coil...
1 of ours is 6 the other 12

and our 50delux is 12...

If I put on a 12 volt coil do I need to change any thing with points and plugs??

no same plugs same points --- if you dont put a resistor it will only shorten the life of the points thats all.

Thanks for your input and help. I think 12 volt is the way I am going. Still do not know why it will not start on 6 volt?? Hard headed I guess.
Where are you located?? I am in southwest Indiana.
Thanks Dave
