It is leaking out fairly fast, it goes from full on the stick to not touching the stick in about three hours. Also does this when the tractor is not running. It is probably going into the rear end. What is it possibly, how involved is it to fix? I can't spend very much time fixing it, need to keep going. Is there such a thing as stop leak for hydraulics? I see that I have a couple quarts of power steering fluid with stop leak in that, can I do anything with that, just to slow it down? It is used for haying only, and was not leaking this fast last year. Thanks.

Is there a reliable place to order the seal online if possible? No one within a 70+ mile radius of my place has a book to order any Oliver parts at all. Also if I could have some idea of how long it would take on average to fix it? It has to be a night project as I am haying and I'd like to have an idea before I start, if it's simple or if there are a lot of little things to it. Is there any particular gear I should have it in to make the shifter any easier to put back in (that sort of advice)? Or do you just unbolt it around the base of the pedestal where you ad oil. Does someone have a parts diagram? Hopefully just the seal. Would there be much to taking the pump off and not using it (as an alternative if more problems, cover the holes...)? It would be a big pain but I could use another tractor to raise the mower when it needs to be. Thanks again.

Agco Dealer - Maibach Tractor in Creston Ohio they have a large inventory of new and used parts for Olivers. Website ----- -www.agcocorpdealers.com/MAIBACH/ Phone # 1-800-808-9934. Hrs 8:00 am to 5: pm Mondays thru Fridays 8 to noon on Saturdays EST. I think your 660 has the same Hydraulic system as my Supers does? My I&T book says 66 thru 880 Olivers. To repair the Pump on this will Require pulling the PTO Shaft at the rear of the tractor. Need to Remove four bolts from under the clucth cover then cover and handle can be removed. Then there will be a bearing cap in behind the clutch with three bolts-need to remove them, then you can remove the clutch & PTO Shaft from the tractor. From there you need to remove the whole Hdydraulic Assmembly under the dash. First its best to remove your shifter lever before pulling the Assmembly. Making sure your shifter is in Neutral position in low range area. Remove the two bolts from the shifter (BEING CAREFULL) there will be Two springs underneath the shifter making sure you don"t loss them into the
Transmission. Then you can unbolt the Hydraulic Assembly from the tractor. The Assembly will be alittle on the heavy side. Once this is out of the tractor you can remove the Pump from the mounting base. Remove the bolts from the pump to inspect the Needle Bearings and Oil Seals from there being carefull of not damageing the flat surfaces on the plates. Also check the center plate on the pump for cracks plus the mounting plate that the pump bolts to for cracks also. Hopefully all the problem will be just the seals that are bad. May need to get a gasket for Hydr. assembly And a rear gasket for the back PTO Assembly plus a couple of o"rings that goes between the pump and base plate. This might come as a kit? I"m not sure on how to send a photo link thru this forum.
Tryed a couple of times didn"t work for me. I can send it regular email. If you do need to get Oil seals 4 ea. or bearings they will have to be install a certain way. The one will face with the lip on the seal facing toward the gear and other one with the lip facing outward. I hope I got all the Infomation you needed right? I guess if it was me I"d use another tractor to do the work till ya get these fixed. May take sometime to do this. I didn"t mean to talk your ear off on this. Thanks Mike.

Thanks for all that info, nice to have a step by step. I think I probably will do something different for right now?? I might get started a little at it sometime, but I don't care to work on stuff after dark after a full day in the field if it's something that I can get by without, and hard telling what I'd find in there after all of these years especially with my luck lately. I'll have to unhook my rake tractor all of the time, but that's not much of a big deal. Just wish it would have started the end of last year so I would have done it this winter.... Thanks again.

The hydraulic pumps look alike. However the center section and gears are narrower than a 77 thru 880 series. Seals and bearings are the same. Check the idler bearings carefully. They are smaller and in any gear pump the load on the idler shaft is 25% more than on the drive shaft?

It is seals if you are lucky. The pump center plate if you are not. I was not lucky; my center plate is junk. Available for $200 plus the seals.

You don't say what model you have but I'd guess the drive seal on the pump has failed and your oil is going into the transmission case. Stop leak won't help a bad seal. You'll need to pull the pump and replace the seal. Better drain the transmission and put in new also as the diluted oil will not be good enough for the transmission.
