Well, the long process of restoration gets going again this week now that I have some summer vacation. I got the hydraulic pump rebuilt without any problems yesterday. Now I have to do the field conversion to increase the capacity of the hydraulic resovoir. Oliver found that with the early Super 55s that air could get mixed into the oil causing cativation. I have to tap a 1/4 and a 3/8 inch straight pipe thread for some return lines inside the transmission cover. I didn't realize you could get strait pipe taps, I thought they were always tapered. I'm sure this will be an adventure today finding those. Next week the weather is suppose to be sunny, so I am going to push the tractor out of the shed minus the engine, set it up on blocks, take off the tires, and blast it and paint it.

Hey Paul!
Glad to hear that. Hope all is going well. I am sure that S55 is gonna be a beauty when done. My rigs have been sitting idle most of the yr. To much day job and now have to travel 1 wk. / mo. to visit Sr. Mgmt. in Oakland.

Are you coming down to FL for Flywheeler show in Feb? Oliver is the rig of choice. I am planning on going down and taking my 550 if it is all cleaned up.

Take care and enjoy yourself.
No longer chuggin in the weeds. . .

Hey Shep,
Reading your post about the flywheeler conv. in Feb. Can you tell me a little me about it. Sounds like it might be worth the trip from NC in Feb.

Thanks,
Matthew

Gee.. Florida would be nice, but I don't plan on any long trips this summer. That's about as far from me as you can get and still stay on the continent. I think this summer I will just be taking short trips into, Washingiton, Oregon and around BC. I'll post some in progress pics next week on the Super 55.

Hey Paul !
The Flywheeler Show is FEB 2006. Figure you could use a break and come to FL like a SNOW BIRD :)

Feb in FLA is alot different than FEB in BC.
Chew on it for awhile if it sounds interesting.

Yep... but the only problem is school has me tied down in February. Six more years and I'll be ready to hang it up, then I can hit some of the non-summer events.
