Blade will not go up, I had noticed the pump was not turning at the same rate as the crank pulley, in other words; the belt is slipping, so I tighten the belt so that it is pretty tight, and still is slipping - - when trying to raise the blade the pump just about stops turning – I am guessing that the pump is at fault, any suggestions would help since the manual does not address the pump.

Could it be the belt is worn out. If the belt is bottoming in the groove, no amount of tghtenining will make it more than a narrow flat belt.

I havn't heard much good about those belts period. They are great for an emergency, but not for any long-time use. Get yourself the proper belt before you try to trouble shoot it any more.
