I'm working on hooking up my new guages, and I'm not sure how to hook them up. They have 5 possible terminals, 2 of which look like they are just screws, but I think those 2 I need to use. The other 3 terminals have the nuts on them, marked B, T, & I can't remember the other one. The scews are marked ground and 12v. I know I only need to use 3 terminals, power, ground, and the guage. I'm assuming the 2 screw type terminals I use, but which one of the 3 nutted ones?

Got it!! in reply to Don-Wi, 07-04-2005 10:04:49
I emailed Jerry again the other day, and he got back to me today. Got it all squared up and hooked up. I just need to get a battery and then the electrical side is good to go. I installed the battery cable under the platform after putting heat-shrink tubing over the crimped ends. (don't know why the Massey dealership didn't when they made them, they always have in the past) Gonna pick up the hydraulic hoses I need to run up to the cooler in front tomorrow. Going to watch the tractor pulls in Seymor at the fair tomorrow night. Was hoping to get mine in the action....

If that is a temperature gauge then I think the hex nut terminals are the ones used.

The (B) would (I believe) be switched battery. (T) would go to the sending unit and I think the ground is more for the light than anything.

If I am correct about the gauge then the temperature sending unit is a variable resistance. As the motor warms up the resistance drops and more current flows through the gauge moving the needle. It grounds through the sending unit.

I think an ammeter would definitely use the hex nuts from what I see in the picture.
If an ammeter reads backwards reverse the terminals.
Now this is what I think from the picture (no guarantee) and I can't see where the screw terminals go anywhere.

Yes, that is the temp guage, and the fuel is the same. No amp guage to worry about, that's a light on this tractor. The guy I bought them from said they hooked up the same, needing 12 volts, a ground, and then the sending unit wire. That's where I think the 2 screw terminals as they are marked 12v and the 3 horizontal lines for ground. I think he said use the B terminal, but I can't remember. Dang my crappy memory...

Are the 2 you are talking about the ones that our used to mount them in the bracket that attaches to them and then pushes against the panel??? I know that is the way all of mine are like, but I don't have a tractor as old as your 1600, probably not as nice as yours either!!! Just about all but 1 needs paint, but darn they work well..... Good luck, Marc

No, Im talking the two right below them in the picture, they have a flat head screw that gioes into them. These are new/aftermarket ones that look really nice, and they have 5 possible terminals. After staring at them long enough, trying to remember what Jerry at Ag Parts First told me, I think I have them hooked up right. I used the 2 on the bottom outside (12v & Ground) in the picture, and the top left(B) being connected to the sending unit. Donovan from Wisconsin
