I have a 28-44 with a oliver 99 head on it. head was worked over and tractor starts and runs. we pull it in the 6500 class and it pulls good. The problem is at a idle the axhaust cap is held wide open with exhaust--running wide open it only opens 1/4 which doesnt seem right, should be oppisite. Also when i crack the throttle open it seems sluggish.any ideas? still looking for a timing mark also. Thanks ,Keith.

The timing marks are on the flywheel. Are you using the limiting speed governor or the 99 gov? Wich pistons do you have the cast or aluminum, the latter being M&W 5 in? I like the 99 carb better than the stock 28-44.

found timing marks its timed ok-compression is 105 in all cylinders,We are using 99 carb, intake, and governor. The old monster still has the cast pistons. When pulling it seems ok but wondering why the exhaust lessons as the RPM,s get higher.???? thanks
