Looking to puchase a 560 Cockshutt, but the engine is locked up. Anyone have an idea of what a complete engine overhaul might cost for this tractor? Also be interested in knowing what the tractor might be worth as is. Tractor is straight, and original paint is in good condition.

Either Engine is a very pricey overhaul.I would say from 500.00 to 1000.00 depending on tires,gauges,3pt
and all the little things.

First of the 560 used 2 different Perkins engines. So a serial number might help or tell us if the high presssure lines comming out of the injection pump come out of the top in a straight row or if the 4 lines are in a circular pattern and the basic back of the pump is round. First hint you are not going to walk up a Perkins dealer and get an overhaul kit off the shelf.

Thanks for the input. The tractors not local, so I don't have access to the serial number. I've been told that it's always been shedded, and that it does not have the red belly.

I have 3 560's and all the engines were bad. One was even running when purchased and the motor was junk because of cracks between the cylinder walls, and many other too warn parts to fix.
Check the tractor's front end for leaking oil in front of the radiator. If there is a goodly amount then you may have a seized motor due to a leaking ps unit that has plugged the radiator which in turn has caused the engine to heat up in excess and therefore has set up. The L270 has only three main bearings which makes for some interesting things that can go wrong if the engine was not maintained properly. We plan to re-power with cummins engines in the future.
Just my 2 cents.
