Guys, My 1855 started getting black oil looking stuff coming out around where each part of the manifold screws to the engine...How bad is that? I was round baling with a Vermeer 504G in 90 degree heat. Oil level is still up on full and oil pressure was 30+lbs. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

My guess is that it needs to pull it's guts out for a few hours, work it really hard on a plow or something. I worked our 1855 on the plow for atleast 6 hrs one day, ran a full tank through it all on the plow. Next time I started it up I got showered in carbon that dried up in the exhaust system. I couldn't tell weather or not it was wet stacking before as the whole side of the block was wet from leaking injector T's. I replaced the #2 injector as that one was really wet and when I took it out it had carbon built up on the tip pretty bad. Donovan from Wisconsin

If you have something that will make 'er work HARD, put it on and work it untill the full tank is almost empty. Should take care of it if it's wet stacking.

Depending on the hours. First place I would look is the turbocharger, if this has just started happening. I could be wrong but my 1955 did that to me when the turbo seals went out. Good luck, Marc

How is the engine temperature? I can remember when people used to cultivate and we had complains like that (Wet stacking) The big picture was they were not working the engine hard enough for complete combustion. You need to pin point a little more. Is this comming out of each cylinder, how much does the engine oil level change in 10 hours of operation? Where does the temperature gauge run? Do you get any white or grey smoke on start up? Tell us more. Questions?

Well engine temp was the hottest I have had it but the guage is not working - I could touch the oil filter and hang on for a few seconds. It came out around the 1, 3 and 4 count from the front of the engine. Has 3800 hours on it. I was running about 1400RPM. Has a little white smoke on startup but clears quickly. It will blow a black cloud if you idle up quick but most do.

Thanks,
Mike

Oil level stays up at full. It was changed about 20-30 hours ago and still is on full.
