Can anyone tell me what I have? In 1971 I bought what I thought was an 80. The dealer said that the guy who traded it in bought it new as an 80. I bought an Oliver data book a while back and the serial number comes up as last year built 18-28. It has original paint and 80 decals. It's on cut off wheels, now on rubber. The radiator says Oliver hart-parr and it has the small tank. It has what looks to be throttle and spark advance levers ahead of the shift lever. They work left and right. They are disconnected and what looks to be a later attached throttle lever and linkage now go to the govenor housing. This lever has a spring loaded friction disc. The air cleaner is the fiber type that you clean, oil and, re-assemble. These things are different than the 80 row-crop that I have. Can anyone tell me if I have an 18-28 or an 80? Thanks

It has an Ensign carb and a base mount mag. The impulse is in the gov. housing not the mag. On the serial plate, it says, rating 18-28. The serial number is 803205. Thanks for all the help.

I believe that you have an 18/28 that has had the fixed speed governor replaced with the later style variable speed governor. That is why it has the 80 style control. It probably also has a flange mount mag and a Schebler carb off of an 80 also? Probably was re-decaled at the same time.
