Still working on my 550, re post on page 3. got the old doll running, watering the garden as I plowed. I noticed that the clutch is slipping, is there an adjustment? Also on my other post I sent the vin. number, can someone tell me what year it is.
Thanks J

As with any spring loaded push clutch free travel must be maintained. Push down on the petal by hand there should be 3/4 to 1 inch free travel before you feel resitance. If not you will see a threaded rod that has a small lock nut and then a larger nut behind it. This attaches the petal to the arm that goes inside the bell housing, have not done one in years but I think lock nut takes a 9/16 socket, larger nut 3/4 inch. Loosen the larger nut to get the necessary free travel. Questions? Tractor is a late 58 model. It still has the 144 cubic inch engine. Questions?
