I have been pulling my new disc mower with my Kubota M4700 which is 42pto hp and it is a little small. I am thinking about putting it on the 1955, what do you guys think about this idea? Wish I'da bought abot a 10'footer or so now, but I'll try this set up and see how it works.

We have a 7' Vicon 3 pt disc mower which usually goes on the White American 60, but there have been times that I have had to use the 1955. The only problem is the 20.8-34 tires are a little wide and trample some hay.

Now we have a Reese 8' 3 pt drum mower that goes on the 1955. If you try wide swathing for baleage or haylage it really works great with the spreader attachment.

I have 18.4-38's on mine. Do you have problems with the balls in the arms poping out?

I have used the Krone cutter on my 1855 for several years with no problems regarding the balls coming out . However , I have the newer model Krone cutter with three large springs that probably place most of the cutter stress and vibration on the springs . My friend with the 1655 did have that problem on his tractor and he ended up tying the latches down with bare metal wire . That fixed the problem . Part of your problem MAYBE you do not have the two lower arms on the three point hitch adjusted just right relative to each other or you may be out of adjustment on the top link putting pressure on the latches . I would try tying the latches with metal wire so they cannot come open , that probably is the simplest solution .

ya I wired them down --- thats just not the best way to do things though--- and we did have the other tractors as options anyway.

Hey Luke;Got curious about Oliver tractors and was looking at your discussion board.Don't see any Olivers in my area anymore. What kind of h.p. does a 1955 have? From what Sam said it sounds like a good sized tractor. Thanks; Kenny

And it's a BIG 108 HP tractor- visual effect of that tractor on a 3 point disc mower is a Clydedale pulling a coaster wagon.

Tractor will definately run it . In fact tractor is probably way too big for 7 foot disc mower / cutter but if that is only tractor you have besides Kubota then that is what you have to use . i run an 11 foot Krone disc mower with my 1855 ( has a 1955 engine ) and the cutter is no load at all on the 1855 . A friend of mine has an appoximately 9 foot Krone which he runs with a 1655 diesel . If you are going to use 1955 to cut , i would be looking for a bigger cutter in the 10 to 12 foot range . Saves a bunch of trips around the field .

My cutter is a 7'10". I am thinking about going to a 9'2" 3-point, I really want a 9'2" trailed pull type vicon KM2800 but they are $10,000, and the one I got now was only $5150.

luke, don't trade to utilize your horse, use what you have it will be just fine. We have a reese drum mower on reserve (it doesn't lift up so it's kinda hard to cut terraces) but run a 10' Gehl disc conditioner on our 105 or 110 with wonderful results. Put that mower on that 1955 you'll be very happy!! Hope to catch up with you sometime!

Thanks for the encouragment. You live over off of hwy C if I remember right don't you? What kind of Olivers do you have? There is an Unger over there who has some Olie's I think? I am just trying to figure out how to stabilize the lift arms on my 1955 because they don't have any stabilizer chains or arms. I am going to bale this afternoon and then unhook the baler, then maybe tomorrow I'll try to hook up the Vicon mower and see how that works out. I'll say one thing, I'll be able to flat out fly only pulling 7'10" of cutter!

Yea that's me. The arms on our 1955 were shot on the end so i went to dissen repair and bought ball type ends , cut the old ends off and welded new ones on. You have sway blocks yet, not? they should hold things from slappping back and forth. Good luck !! By the way we have a gas 1850 that's for sale and a diesel 880. Traded the 1955 for a White 110, bought a 105 for our loader tractor. Catch up with you sometime. Good luck again!

we run a vicon 7'10" mower on a JD630 in 4th gear and have for several years.. I dont think it has 42hp.

we tried it on our 530JD but it had to stay in 3rd gear...thats a bit slow.

I couldnt keep the balls hooked on our 1755 to keep the mower attached to it... thats kinda dangerous when it hopps off on ya.

Oh I never thought of that. My Kubota has enough power to pull it, it just runs a little warmer than I like it to. The dealer says it's ok, but it makes me uncomfortable. It'll run between 1/2 and 3/4 mark on the temp gauge where it usually wont run but barely over half pulling anything else.

Allied loader on 1755 Oliver in reply to Luke S, 06-16-2005 14:55:44
Has anyone ever put a 590 loader on a 1755 ? I know the mounts will work because the loader came off of a 2-70 White. The problem I'm having is where to tie in the hydraulic lines to work the valve. The valve has 3 hoses that was hooked up on the 2-70. One would be pressure and one would be return. What is the 3rd line for ? Where do you hook the lines up for pressure and return? Thanks
