What is the largest ( most HP ) engine that I can bolt into my 1957 Super 77 Diesel. I prefer to stay Diesel but I could buy another 77 for a gas engine. Tractor is only used for tractor pulling.
I have a friend putting 400 cubes in a MM U. I cant let him out pull me now can I.

AP is right a 310 gas or diesel will bolt in the 77 frame .Use the 77 flywheel clutch bellhouseing and motor plate shorten pto shaft if you use it.Use a water pump off a 1650 with the short snout for fan clearence. If I remember right the hollow clutch shaft needs to be shorter too maybe a inch or so.Way back I put a 1800 gas in a 77 .

Do you want to stay naturally asperated or turboed? The 310 direct injection engine is a relatively easy bolt in.

20% over stock rpm. no turbo, Rather than spending 20k building a stroker. I would just like to bolt in a larger engine.

I have seen 426 cubes in a 77 from a 77 block. Roughly 130 horse, carbed, at 20% over. I don't think you want to know how much $$$$!!!!
