Baling hay today, my 1755 started leaking oil. It is coming from the dashboard area, leaking out on the righthand side down by the battery. Has this happened to anybody like this?
I haven't got into it yet, but what might it be and what should I be looking for? It is engine oil, when I shut it off, it had used 2 quarts in about 20 minutes.
Thanks.

The first question you need to ask is what type oil or fluid is leaking :

1. If it is engine oil , then I agree it is probably tiny line going from engine block to oil pressure gauge . It would seem if that line is broken your oil pressure gauge would show no pressure or a significant drop from normal operating pressure around 30 .

2. If it is automatic transmission fluid (red ) , then that fluid would be coming from over/under shifter and could be one of two things : (a) lines from over/under unit to oil cooler on front of tractor go up right side of unit and then over the top of the fuel tank and could be leaking ; (b) rear seal on unit is leaking and when unit is turning chain coupler is slinging auto tansmission fluid up under the dash and then it is leaking back down . This could also be source of hydraulic fluid because some people use hydraulic fluid in over under shifter .

3. If if is hydraulic fluid , I agree most likely source is hose to steering motor in dash or place where hoses connect to the sterring motor . There are also hydraulic line that go to the side of the dash ( I think on the left ) and then up and over the fuel tank to the hydraulic cooler on the front of the tractor .

If you need to get in the dash to do a lot of work , best thing to do is take off the fuel tank .

Your steering motor is up in the dash area also.

oil pressure guage if its engine oil or the line to it. If hyd oil may be one of steer hoses. My guess.

I agree, the oil line to the pressure gage. On the olivers they sometimes break up by the gage. This happened to my 2255 last year running unattended on my corn drier lost over a gallon of oil in less then 30min thankfully I have murphy switch gages on and it shut down befor the engine was shot. I'd put a whole new line on and use copper not plastic I've had bad luck with the plastic.

Well, it was the copper line. The implement store told me $71.00 for that line, but Napa sold it to me for $2.86! Just a word to the wise. I am glad somebody gave me that idea. I also took some old air hose tubing and put the copper through that so it shouldn't happen anytime soon.
Thanks for the advice.

Do those gages have an actuater that closes off the fuel supply? I'm just taking a wild stab in the dark that those murphy gages paid for themselves already.
