Can someone help me with a Oliver 88 RC? I can't get the clutch apart. I decided to not pull the motor so I'm disassembling the clutch by removing the steering pedestal, etc. I cannot get the PTO shaft to come out rearward. Maybe I just need to use a slide hammer to get it loose? The problem is compounded by the fact that the side belt drive is in the way. It needs a bearing replacement anyway so I'm doing it all at once. What am I overlooking in this teardown? I don't want to break anything but I'm getting frustrated!!!!!

Well, I have the instructions for the belt pulley removal in the manual.

REmove the pulley from the pulley shaft flange.

Remove the hood side door assemblies and clutch compartment doors.

Disconnect the pulley shifter rod from the pulley shifter lever and disconnect the clutch spring from the pulley carrier

On 77, 88, Super 77 and Super 88 series tractors, remove the rear panel assembly.

Disconnect the input shaft coupling from the input shaft and slide the coupling forward onto the clutch shaft.

Remove cap screws from the pulley carrier and remove the pulley assembly from the tractor.

Nice instructions, But they don't say to remove the PTO unit and its driveshaft from the rear of the tractor. That is where you start to do any clutch or belt pully R&R on Rowcrop Olivers.

Once in a while I run into a Fleetline that has slightly twisted splines at the place where the PTO shaft comes out of the flywheel hub. Torque and time put them there. You may need to pull the engine partially to get to your "work."

Thanks to all who responded. Thanks for the call, John. I got back to work on it today and the PTO shaft just about fell out of the back just like it was supposed to. I don't know what my problem was last week. This is a great site with tons of knowledgeable people. Thanks Alot! Bob
