Guys I am not much of a collector but ran across a Oliver 1950T that is in very good shape, sheded, straight, good paint, no leaks. The owner wasn't sure of the engine but would assume its the orignal has 4800 hrs does make some white smoke at a fast idle but blows alot of black smoke when fired up. BTW it does have fender tanks. I'm not much of a collector but am thinking of buying this tractor, any idea what's it worth. Thanks for the input

I'm not going to offer any advise regarding price but I will offer some other information that may or may not be helpful in your purchase. Personally I think the 1950-T is a great collectable late model Oliver tractor. It does have a lot going for it and I will mention a few things. They are kind rare since they were the top of the line and not made very long. It was Olivers first turbo charged tractor. It introduced the over/under hydraulic shift. The 1950-T set the record as the most fuel efficient tractor Oliver ever made. It was the most powerful tractor Oliver made in 1967. Compared to the Oliver 1950 (I own a 1950) it's very smooth and quiet to drive. A real pleasure to operate. In my opinion the 1950-T is an extremely good looking tractor.

However, the 1950-T has it's detractors. Primarily because it had the 310 engine and I'm sure at least one them will have post on here what they have heard. But before they do I what to remind them that the majority of the problems with the 310 engine were related to the 1855 that had no engine oil cooler. And with the engine updates and proper maintenance the 310 is an awesome engine.

Just purchased a 1950T for $5500 to include some new paint and decals. Tires are recent and everything works. Was very interested in Scott's comments as it was more than I knew. I just liked it and wife said "okay" and promised not to divorce. I am looking for an operator's manual as I know very little about this model. Was thrilled to hear the T stood for turbo! and it was fuel efficient. Appreciate any information and would pay for manuals.

Couldn't have said it better myself... With updated rod bolts (12 point heads instead of the original 6) and the sheet metal being straight (remember the "T" hood is unique with the dual in-line precleaners on all but a few '69 model T's), a tractor like you describe should be worth more than average. You can check for the 12 point rod bolts with a flashlight through the oil dipstick hole and by getting the crankshaft turned to just the right spot. I could see $6-7k pretty easily for a well maintained original T, if not more.

I gave $6000 for a 1955. I had to spend another $3000 to get it to the condition I wanted it in but now it is a hell of a good tractor.
