I was wondering if the 283 in a 1650 can be made to accept the sleeves and pistons of an 1850. I have a 1650 that the former owner claims had 1850 sleeves and pistons. It seems to be much more responsive than the other 1650 gassers that I have been around. So, my question is will it work and what is the expect increase in horsepower. I believe the 1650 was around 66-70 horse. Thanks Jake

You are making statements that do not add up. A gas 1650 is a 265 cubic inch engine. It has a 4 inch stroke. The 1850 gas has a 4-3/8 inch stroke. The 1850 gas has a larger bore 3.875 instead of 3.750. The compression distance of the two pistons will not interchange. M & W did make a 283 kit for the 1650 gas engine.

Doh, Thank you for correcting me. I do not know why I said 283. I had just got done researching the archives to find out the displacement of the gas. So I bet my 1650 has oversized M&Ws in it. Thanks
