I have been involved in Antique car restoration most of my life, as a hobby and career. After moving to Iowa, I got interested in tractors. And I know very little about them. Anyway I just purchased an Oliver 70 RC. I would like to determine what year it is. It is in fairly complete but rough condition. Where is the serial # located? It has a distributor, not a mag. It has the hand throttle assembly mounted under the steering column, not on the wheel. Does that help? Thank you for your help, I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions. Wayne

Some 70 have a casting Date under the transmission which is a short time before the tractor was made. Delbert

I don't know what year they came out with the distributor. My 36 Oliver 70 has a mag and my 41 parts tractor didn't have anything. The serial number is on the left side of the engine block. On the left of this page under Research and Info is an item Serial Numbers. Use this list to identify year.

Thanks for the information. It looks like my tractor is a 1946.
