I am looking for a good Oliver reference book. Along with information on each model, I want the production years for each model and the number made. This seems to be what is missing from many books I have found. Any suggestions for good titles that have this information? Thank you.

Beginning in 1953, all tractors built in the plant were Serial Numbered in sequence regardless of model. Lets say that a run of 300 1650 tractors were built and the last one was S/N 214 811 and the next tractor built was a 1750, it got S/N 214 812. Looking at the beginning and ending Serial Numbers for a particular year does not mean that there was that many built as other models were more than likely built between beginning and ending numbers. You can not determine the number built by looking at the yearly charts.

Rodney is correct about the book. A other good
book is Oliver Tractor Data Book by Brian Rukes.
Not many pictures but a lot of information. Only
through about 1964. Also on ebay.

I use " A guide to Gart-Parr, Oliver and White Farm Tractors, 1901-1996" by Larry Gay. It doesn't specifical list the number built, but it does list the serial numbers for each model and year and with a little math it's easy to determine how many were built.

It's published by The American Society of Agricultural Engineers, 2950 Niles Road, St. Joseph, Mich.

I got mine off eBay for about $15 if I remember correctly.

I guess Larry's book is fair, and its pretty spaced out sometimes. I am glad they have some parts on White, but yet it wasnt as good as it could be. That guide that was talked about above lacks alot. I was sold on buying it until I discovered it didnt cover the late model Olivers. So, the question of a good Oliver book- C.H. Wendel's book is good, and so is Herb Morrell's book, along with John Culberson's Tractor Builders. As for a picture book, there really isnt one. Hope it helps.
