I need to replace the clutch on my 88 RC and want to do it right the first time. So my question is, is there any difference in quality between the clutch plate and pressure plate that I would get from AGCO compared to that of a discount supplier? (I can't mention them in the message, but you know who they are).

Is it worth the extra money from AGCO, or does everyone get their parts from the same manufacturer? Thanks for the info.

make sure you replace the tube that the throw out bearing slide on...they are thin, and will cause you grief in the future if not replced when you have it apart

I'd get it done at a commercial clutch rebuilder- price is right, and job is done right (they do most of their work for big trucking firms, etc, and wouldn't be in business long if they didn't do it right). When I've taken clutches and pressure plates in, they never even ask me what its from- but they have all the springs, etc. to rebuild it.

I just put a clutch in my TD-14 and had a outfit that specializes in rebuilding clutches and relining brakes in their own shop do the work. They do a good job as their reputation is on the line. I had to go over to Spokane WA to get it done but the price was right and the work was top notch. The dealer price was outrages. PK

Hi
I've been in the business of repairing tractors for almost 20 years.I can count on one hand the number of times I put a clutch in a tractor that the parts came from the original manufacturer. And if you think AGCO,Deere or anyone else rebuilds their own clutches, you are sadly mistaken. They farm this out to who-ever wins the contract. That being said if you go back in with original,it will probably be a woven disk.I personally prefer a button clutch because they tend to last longer. If you have questions or need any parts please feel free to write or call. Thanks,
:) Jerry
