I have a 550 with a front end loader. The loader has two buckets. One is quite large for snow removal and the other for general use. The tractor runs like a top. It does need PTO clutches and brake attention. I have a man who wants to buy the tractor but I have no idea what to ask. Can you give me any advice? thanks for your response. Allen L

Where are you located, beacause any 55o in my area will bring 3500 and go. have a unit right now on lot next to me they are asking 5200 for it. If it runs nice I would be interested in it for that price but where are you and what year, straight or checkerboard grill.

I am located in Suffolk, VA. The loader is fully hyd. The buckets are new. No leaks and works great. I paid $5500 one year ago, but need to sell it. Will take $4500. A neighbor seems interested, but has not committed. Let me know if you are interested.

My estimating source says $2500 for the bare tractor. I saw one with a full hydraulic loader sell for $3750 on auction last Saturday. I don't think the PTO clutch or brakes are a large deal. If yours is a full hydraulic loader, $3500 would seem fair.

If eBay is any guide, a restored 550 runs between $4200 to $6000 w/o a bucket. This site and eBay seem to be the best prices to check market prices on old tractors.

This spring I paid $4k for a bare tractor, 1963 gas all original except for alternator - seller was in Morgan Co., Ohio & had four 550s. Now I would be thrilled to sell it for that much, including the original parts manual I bought for it (complete with Oliver binder). New job, building a house, a baby on the way and a recently ill father have made me see I don't need to take on a restoration or even repainting job right now. You could also try the Oliver Gang or the Hart-Parr-Oliver site.
