1800 motor removal help

I have taken out all the motor mount bolts and the bolts that attach the "plate" to the clutch housing. I have gotten seperation from the clutch housing of about 1.75" but it will not seperate from the clutch housing. I have place a wedge inthe gap but I hate to break something. Is their something I am missing or is this typically a difficult task.

Put those bolts back in. You pull the clutch housing apart after removing the engine/two speed/clutch as a unit-just like wrenchbender said. Also, I hope that you didn't attach a hoist and try to pull anything out while the input shaft was still in the tractor! If so, then you could have bent the input shaft and then you're really screwed. Always buy a manual and read it before attempting a big job like that!

It is easier to remove the engine and clutch housing/hydra-power as one unit and then seperate the two after the engine is out. WB.

If you haven"t already, you need to remove the PTO/Hydraulic drive shaft, which is done from the rear of the tractor. And if you don"t have one, you should have a manual of some kind.

Got a manual. Looks like just the upper drive shaft comes out? It also noted neeeding a special puller for the shaft - would you have any guidance on that? I'm curious, how does that shaft keep the motor from coming out?

Are you aware that you need to remove the PTO shaft before removing the engine??? If you haven't, set the engine back down on the mounting pads and take out the PTO shaft.
