I recently looked to buy a 48 row crop 66 and I have a couple of questions. When you push the clutch pedal it makes an awfull noise , the seller said the T/O bearing was bad But I think it might be the pilot bushing as the clutch feels good and I don't feel any roughness in the pedal, any how theres no grease zerk that I have seen on this bellhousing like I have seen on other olivers so how time and money am I looking at here?? Also the tractor is in straight oringinal condition, starts and runs good, decent rears ,one bad front, still 6 v, cast rears, needs paint but has straight metal with all the side curtains. The right side curtain has a bulge in it like I have seen on 77 diesels, but this tractor is'nt a diesel and the bulge is on the right side. Any thoughts on that?? About what would this tractor be worth , it's located in the midwest??? thanks Steve

Old troubleshooting trick. Push the petal down untill the free travel is depleted. If you here the noise it is the throwout bearing, no noise push it all the way down it is the pilot bearing which in that age tractor is a bushing. They do get dry. We even oiled some it helps for a while. It the 66 does not have a housing for the belt pulley you can put a clutch in without taking the hood or fuel tank off. One other thing the ends of the pressure plate release levers may also have worn off allowing the release mechnaism to hit the clutch cover. Makes a terriable noise. Questions?

It could be the pilot bearing but I'd suspect the through out bearing first. It's a big job to fix if it is shot. You must pull the engine. If you can find the zirc fitting, you may be able to grease it and get by, particularly if it is a howling sound (no roughness). Shouldn't cost too much money - just a lot of time and work.

It isn't necessary to pull the engine to do clutch work on a 66. Fuel tank and PTO unit with shaft, yes.

Whopps! I assumed that the 66 was the same as a 70 and 77. Sorry! I should not asume anything.
