Hello All, I have a 550 diesel that will not
run. Have fuel to the pump But no fuel out,
pump turns and has fuel in it. Could the shut down be stuck or what. It's a Roosa pump??? Help

If it is a Roosa-Master pump and it has been sitting for a long period of time, there is a good possibility that the pistons are stuck in the rotor. This is caused by the fuel deteriating and becoming gummy. There is only one fix for this problem. It will have to be removed, cleaned, and resealed. Replace the governor weight retainer ring also, as John states.

Two quick checks to make. Get a bucket and set it under the tractor. Take the timing window cover off crank the engine and see if the pump is turning. If not the pump drive shaft is broke and the pump will need to be repaired. Next thing take the return line fitting out of the pump. Then see if it will start. The original weight retainers were made out of plastic type material which worked well for many years but if a little piece plugs that fitting it will not run. Questions? Good Luck.

Well thanks to all who replied.
AFter careful thought and meditation,
I removed the fuel injection pump and
carefully dis assembled it on the workbench.
Cleaned all of the parts up and re assembled
with some new seals and it runs like a charm.
I did have a gummed up mess at first .
