Is oliver 55 transmission same as 550 trans.

I believe the early years of the 550 are the exact same transmissions as the Super 55. But somewhere I thought I heard that the 550 transmission may have been "improved" later in its production life. I have not tried to confirm that. I believe the early 550 parts should interchange with the Super 55 parts, but I don't know about the newer years.

My repair manual seems to indicate that they are the same. Maybe someone out there knows a lot more than me. (I am sure)
