I hate to do this but I am going to scrap an Oliver 70 that has the earlier style engine. But before I do, I would like to know if there are any parts that are useful to others for restoration. I'm not looking to make money off this, I just don't want to scrap something that another could have used and of course any funds will be used to finance the restoration of my other two Oliver 70s - thus saving them.

Please let me know of any unique parts. I have noticed that some are interesting as compared to my newer style 70s like the cast air cleaner, etc..

What good parts do you still have for your oliver 70? Is the engine complete, is it stuck? I have a ton of newer style Oliver 70 parts that I would trade you possibly for some of your older 70 engine parts as I am putting together a '36 Oliver-Hart Parr 70 RC and am in need of a few parts. Where are you from?

Of course, there is no sheet metal. The engine is complete but it is stuck which does not normally deter me; however, I have the feeling that this one is really far gone. A spark plug was left out and exposed one cylinder completely. I have not checked the condition of the oil to see if water is in it. I will try and remove the easy parts like the governor, cylider head, etc... and this will give me a better idea of internal condition. The trans is all there as well except for the pto.

If you let me know what you need, I will see if it is any good on mine and we can go from there.

The tractor is in Presho, NY. Upstate NY in the finger lakes region south of Rochester, NY (probably won't find Presho on a map)

If oyu where close enough to me I'd pick them up an let them rust in to nothing before I'd scrap them. Sorry I hate to see any of the old tractors going to china. I'll scrap an old car but NEVER any tractors parts

old,

I here what you are saying and I agree. Unfortunately, I do not have the location to store them both. We have too many around and zoning laws are gettign in the way. I wish I could affford to build another barn to house them. Out of the two I am going to store the newer style for a while as I will use it to help with the other two 70s. The older style is VERY rough and really not a candidate for restoration so I will pull off all I can and the rest will have to go to China. I have never really seen anybody interested in the tub anyway and hopefully that is all that will be left to go to China.

Just to let you know what type of person I am, I drove to Virginia from NY and actually pulled an Oliver No.2 hay rake out of a scrap yard and saved it from China. I try where I can but I can't save them all.

I will try and save any parts that I can. I have already started to list some on ytmag already.

If anyone close can store them and wants whats left let me know. I will alwyas give another tractor person an shot before the unthinkable happens.
