Was wondering what the approx. horsepower of a 77 is. Is this a 3 bottom tractor? Looked at one that ran very smooth and sounded great and was thinking about buying it. Thanks

I have a Old Oliver 77 NF children's pedal tractor that needs a back tire and rim. Can you help me link to a Web site for parts.

Thankyou...

My diesel runs about 40-44 hp on the dino depening on the day and the dino. I Pull a 3-14's in most conditions 3rd gear 8-10" deep on clay loam soils. It pulls better than the gas 77's I've run. Best tractor I have. I have pulled a very well scoured 3-16 4340 with good results but more comfortable with the 3-14"

Nice tractor! in reply to OliverGuy, 04-20-2005 11:26:14
These were very nice comfortable tractors for their time. The 77 is a good size and it has live PTO and dual live hydraulics. If the steering is in good shape you won't need power steering. They are great for mowing, raking, and baling with a small square baler.

It's a little light for 3-14's in some parts of the country.

Mine has been overhauled with M&W pistons and is dynoed at 49 hp. It pulls 2x16" real nice, but 3x14" is a tough pull. In some soft stubble on level ground it will do it, especially with some added weights. Our ground is kind of tough, but around here I would say a 77 works best on a 2 bottom.

The 77 we had was rated around 38 hp. We pulled 3-16's for awhile then went to 3-14,s Oliver plow. The 77 had cast iron rims and fluid. The tires were 12x38 if I remember correctly. Dad said it was almost like an 88 at times. Good Luck with whatever your project is.

It is supposed to be a 2-3 bottom tractor but it will depend on where you live and how deep and fast you want to plow. I have 2-12's with mine and no weights or ballast just cast weheels and I can pull in 3rd gear most of the time but sometimes have to hit second. I live in West Tn and we have alot of clay and hard dirt here so it might be different where you are.
