I have an LP tank that I am told is off of an Oliver 70. I can't read the tag on it hardly at all. Its roughly 18" dia. X about 30" long. Does anyone know the gallon capacity of it?

Using your dimensions and an 80% fill I got just over 26 gallons. Since you probably gave outside dimensions true capacity will be something less than that.

I am guessing closer 20 normally.

I done a bit of rubbing on the tank and could make out "33 gallons water capacity".

I stand corrected. I didn't allow for domed ends. Sounds plenty big (to me) for a 70 but you burn roughly twice the LP over other fuels.

I dont know about that. Many years(1956)ago I had the pleasure of operating a MH 44 and a UB MM on propane. I didnt think they used an excessive amount of fuel.

If you are referring to the heat capacity it is a fact. I ran a converted 77 and it didn't seem to use excessive amounts either. But I think that old factory LP 930 used plenty. It literally burned twice as much fuel pulling 5 anhydrous knives as a 1750 Diesel burned pulling 7.

For what is worth, my Grandpa had a UB. Pulled good if you could steer it.

RT (I am almost sorry I posted on this. It was just a quick conversion of dimensions)
