Cletrac BDHL Question

The Parts Book for my Cletrac BDH has a section for a BDHL modification.(Sections 30-10,-11,-13) It looks like it concerns lowering the front wheel using parts from a kit. I'm guessing the "L" in BDHL stands for lower front wheels. What situation would someone what to lower their front wheels? Better stability? More control on the hillside? Carry more weight?
Just something I hadn't heard before. Thanks.

Hermit,

All of the old cletracs had a raised front
wheel, worked great as a crawler tractor but as
a dozer it made the tractor quite nose heavy and
difficult to carry a grade. It would have been a
disaster as a loader because the tractor balances
on the front roller when it needs to balance on the front wheel.

I have an AG-6 with an 8 ft heil trailbuilder on
it and it is quite nose heavy . The kit you saw
in the parts book is called a lowered front
wheel assembly , it's a shame that you can't find
one , sure would have made the old gal handle
better.
