I like to use OEM service parts whenever possible. The other day I bought two long O/U filters ,30-3475433, from a White dealer along with some planter parts. I didn't check the price of the filters until I got home. It was a good thing I was sitting down. $44.31 apiece!!
Today, I checked with the local NAPA, a little over $6.00. The wix filters that NAPA sells should be an equal quality filter. What does everyone think about this?

Just bought lm67048 bearing from agco dealer and NAPA. NAPA was $2.10 higher. Guess it depends on store owner. Filters from AGCO have a heavier base plate than the wix from NAPA and I usually pay about $1 - $1.50 more on a $15 filter.

I have an exception to the filter example. I normally purchase all my filters at NAPA but they changed the quality of the "sock type" filters used on the 310 and other Waukeshas. The sock material was not as heavy as before. I bought some from the agco dealer and they were like always.

Sometimes you need to pay the extra to get a part that is better and sometimes there is no difference. It was worth the extra to put a good filter in, especially on a 310 turbo. WB.

I agree with Jerry on this one. The tractor manufacturers don't make their own filters. They are farmed out to the filter manufacturers and in some cases they get it from several different ones just in case of supply disruption. That $38 markup goes right to AGCO to pay for the executives' salary.
The same goes for a lot of engine parts like pistons and bearings.
I used to buy OEM parts also until I paid $37 for a wheel seal (each!) when the NAPA store had it for $4.

Hi
Anybody that thinks AGCO builds their own filters is crazy. They are farmed out to different manufacturers including companys like Wix.Same thing goes for engine overhaul kits. (companies like Perfect Circle,Mccord gaskets, etc)They just put them in their own boxes. So don't worry about it.The fact that you change the filters at all is good enough for me. Any questions please write or call. jerrystractor@aol.com
Thanks,
:) Jerry
