I am the one with 1850 gas that I did a complete enj overhaul. The marvel schiebel was very worn, I could not adjust the power iet all the way in R out made no differance, after taking apart the bearings on the throttle shaft were missing and the shaft was in bad shape. I though it would cost more to repair and decided to get a new zenith thinking I would get a little better fuel mileage. But after further calculation, pulling a 16" disc in sandy loam in 3 direct I am burning 6 gallons a hour. I was wondering if that is about normal R if someone had some ideas to cut that down some. I think the 1850 is a great tractor, has power to spare, Thanks in advance

Johnnie,
I pull about the same disc in 4th. gear. Right around 6 mph. Mine uses 6 gals. per hour too. I think that is pretty much normal.

Yes I still have the carb and a kit to rebuild it. This may sound stupid but how do U turn the power down say to 90 horses.

See if you can get to the HPOCA form or the Oliver gang form and send me a message. We can talk about it.

Thanks for getting back with me on the carburetor. We did not sell many 1850 gas tractors but we found out that if you set them at about 90 Horse power they were a lot better on fuel. I can remember an 1800 with one of those that we could not adjust. It was in warrenty so they replaced it and my service rep at that time gave me a Marvel book on how to rebuild that carburetor and ordered me to follow the book and get back with him on what I found wrong. The power jet was bad. I even ordered the tool kit for them. I still have all of it but one piece. The last one I worked on I had to go the other shade of green to get the one part. Do you still have the old one?
