Recently there has been several posts concerning the engine make that was installed in the model 60 tractor. All tractors had Waukesha engines installed at the factory. If you have a continential engine in your tractor, it has been installed at some later time.
I am attaching a photo of the left side of the crankcase of a Waukesha engine in a 60. The rows of numbers are as follows: Top row is the Waukesha part number. Second row identifies the material in the crankcase. Third row is unidentified. Fourth row is the date that the casting was poured in Charles City factory. 8287 translates to August 28, 1947. If your engine has these type of numbers, you have a Waukesha engine in your tractor.

I don't want to start a fight here, but the 3rd line looks like CWC and this casting mark is seen on many differant engines. Its seen on waukeshaw, contintential, buda,ac and a fellow a few years ago told me the CWC was the mark of the casting plant. This plant only made castings and didn't finish engines. He said cwc was someting like consolodated wisconson castings.I don't know if he knew what he was sying or not.
