We are having a tough time these days with blown and flat front tires on our Cockshutts. We have front end loaders on our 1650 and one 1850. The tires are 7.50 - 18's. It seems that the rims are all starting to fail and if they are not cracking around the bolt holes they are cutting holes in the tubes from the internal rivets working loose. Has anyone had luck either welding the center insert to the rim or in finding a durable HD replacement rim? My last set of replacement rims have gone about 5 seasons and are now eating tubes.

What they are talking about is a high density polyurethane foam that is injected into the tire cavity. Lots of Heavy duty tire recap places are set up to inject foam. It has resiliency, but uses its structural strength to hole the load. Re tire: Bozemans Tractor Salvage in Lubbock, Texas built a heavy hoist for front mounting to raise toolbars, ect. loading out at sales and working wrecking yards and solved the axle/wheel problem by retro fitting a truck axle with truck wheels and tires. Seem alot of them in Texas/Oklahoma panhandles and Kansas.

around here(central missouri) lots of guys are having the front tires filled with a substance that hardens after it dries and is like a hard rubber..works great for brushogging in thistles and thorns lots of skid steer owners do the same thing when in rough terrain to save from downtime..wouldnt solve the problem you have with the bolt holes cracking but would solve the tube problem you are having...never go flat even with a heavy load on them.hope this helps

Does the compound hardden to a solid state or more of a plastic state. I like the ldea but the tire is the only suspension I have. I wonder if it makes the tractors ride rougher than a Toyota Landcruiser on wash board?

The tires going flat I guess are a warning. If the rivets are working loose and/or the rims cracking around the bolt holes you could have a dangerous situation. If the wheel lets go with a raised-up load in the bucket or when you hit a bump the whole thing could go over.
I would also be careful changing to too wide a tire since I believe that has caused problems with spindles breaking on certain Oliver/Cockshutt with loaders. The wide tire puts more stress on the axle parts when turning or hitting a rut.

Lots of people put wider 15 or 16 inch rims on.I used to get cheap heavy duty ones from feed grinder mixers or fertilizer spreaders.

What kind of tires would you use? Will the flotation tires from the feed wagons work or do you have to get something with a stronger side wall?

Our 18&1755's have 11L-15's on them. The rims have the stem on the inside of the rim unlike standard rims, and the dish is offset so the tire fits w/out rubbing. Our 1600 has 7.50 16's on it, those are a pretty standard rims.
