Recently aquired a OC4-3C-42-ORC, serial # 6WR-276-ST.I believe this is an 1961 standard model. Is this accurate. Runs great! Does the "Spot Turn" mean that when a stick is pulled it will disconect power to that drive and apply brake simular to a D-4 Cat? Is this a rare machine? I have not seen others like it, it's narrow and the seat sits lower than most.

By the serial number it is a late 1960. Yes it is a standard model but the spot turn option is rather rare. It does operate similar to a cat but the clutches and brakes run in oil so they will not freeze when left sitting for a long time. They were made from 1957 to 65. About 10,000 were made. ( gas and diesel ).

There are also 2 series of the OC-4 models with the 3 cylinder engines. Remember when White purchased Oliver the people in Cleveland (White Motors) did not want the antique Cleveland Plant. Therefore when the last OC-4 was built in Cleveland there were no OC-4 tractors built untill production resumed in Charles City probably 2 years later. Series B tractors were re-engineered to a point. They look different and have a Charles City type serial number. I think in my opinon that 10,000 is a high number. Remember Cleveland did not number them in order using the next number in line.
