Hi, I have a question about my 1850 gas. The engine has been getting weak for awhile and has gotten a knock to it. I was wondering if an engine out of a combine or another unit would work? I have seen V-8 gas engines installed in older olivers, can this be done in my 1850 or is it too much of a project? I don't use the tractor much so I thought it might be a fun project. Any suggestions? Thanks!! Cliff

the most reasonable thing to do if you dont want the gas engine is to put in the 354 Perkins for the 1850 Diesel, but that will require switching the frames. Also, a good engine is the 5.9 Cummins, and that will make it a heck of a tractor. Yes, you can fart around trying to get other engines in there, but I guess I wouldnt bother. The options I listed above are ones I would do myself. Up to you, i guess.

Thank you, We like the gas for winter starting but it looks like the diesel might be the only option.
