Couple weeks ago I bought a 550 from a guy in N. KS. Short story is tractor was beautiful over the phone, quite a bit less so when I saw it in person, but I didn't want to go home empty trailered. Been doing a few minor fixups, but the wiring is a mess. Spliced sections, frayed, broken insulation, missing chunks, etc. I listened to all you smart fellas and got the operator and parts manual from Floyd Co. Museum (Great service, btw), but only colors are listed. Right now, anything above and beyond the ignition is pretty much gone. I'd like to restore as close as possible to factory.

Could anybody give me a brief rundown on sizes required?

In the center, above the dash is a coil type device. Is that the low oil pressure buzzer?

Also, the generator/power steering pump bracket is homemade and not right. Would anybody have a pic how it's supposed to be? 1962, Gas.

Thanks for helping, when I get the sheet metal back on I'll post some pics. I'm excited.

Problem is, I already have the wire. Kinda hate to spend $65 for something I can do myself. (Yes, I'm cheap, are most farmers!)

I'm gonna call them Monday anyway, it may be money well spent. But just in case, gauges woudl be appreciated.

O. K. I kind of agree with you. I guess the only time we used harness on that vintage tractor was if the guy caught it on fire (mounted corn pickers-) What gauges do you have and do you run an alternator or is is stock with a generator

Stock, 12V Pos ground generator, gas, I think that's all.

I appreciate it, I'm already over budget, since it wasn't quite as nice as I expected. But that's the pleasure of fixing up old tractors, right?
