Need to know what to use to help seal the sleeve o-rings on an oliver 70. I've been told to use lead from old paint that has settled but I don't have any old paint around. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Brian

If block bores are not pitted than you can just use any decent assembly lube such as lubri plate grease or some guys say lard is a good thing? If you have serious pitting going on I have (carefully) used high temp silicone in bores where seal rings will sit once sleeve is pushed in. However be careful to clean any excess silicone up that might end up in your crankcase. Also make sure your o-rings are seated properly with no rolls in them. I use a pen or something round like that to run around between o-ring and sleeve after it is on to make sure they have no twists in them. Also be sure you do not try to turn sleeve in bore after it is in as this can "bunch up" o-rings. Hope this is of some help.
