Ok we figured out that the steering problem is in those thrust bearings that are supposed to be in the spindles. Note the "supposed to" there...

Soooo anyone who just happens to be in the West Tn area this weekend is more than welcome to come help us take the front axle apart ! LOL!!!! I figure it has been probably 30-40 yrs since it has moved.... hahahahah!!!!!

Thanks for all the info on the power steering and all, I really appreciate it.

I have found several tractors with the washers gone.There is no real bearing in there its just a brass or steel washer.

yea I figure it is probably bronze. Might make one if the dealer wants too much for them. Thing is it is sloppy also and I want ot replace the bushings as well. Do you happen to know where I can get some steering arms for the top? The splines in mine are kinda worn as well.

jeff I have a complete underslung front end if you need any parts. I believe most of the parts for the axle are the same .One of the only things are the tie rods are heavier. Have not taken the spindles lose so should have the washers. The front end has about 3200hrs on it.TC

Tommy where abouts are you located? I"ve been looking for an underslung widefront parts in Indiana without much luck.

I am located in NW Tennessee, about 50 mile south of Paducah, ky. I have a complete one with very little wrong with it. I never liked since It was bought new. When I got the tractor from my father and decided to go through the motor I changed to a regular wide front. TC

Hehe yep you restored it to almost original. I can" blame you though, some brnds look really good with the underslung front but for some reason the Olivers don"t appeal to me with it either.Now a Deere looks natural with one to me. I"ll be by there sometime after 10:30 to look at it. I am still trying to figure out how to get mine apart right now.
