Picture is posted in the photo ads under parts. Is this the same engine that is in the oliver 99 tractor? How can you tell from the outside if it is a 2 or a 4 valve engine? Dont know a lot about this particular engine model.

No, it's not the same engine configuration. It has the blower on the right and the Oliver tractor application has a left hand blower configuration. You could turn it around but that's a lot of work and none of the accessory are the same on that engine either. (governor, exhaust manifold, bell housing, valve cover ..... ) You can not tell if its a 2 valve or 4 valve head from the outside. Sometimes on the old ones if it has the external fuel rails it's a 2 valve head but if it has the internal fuel rails it could go either way. I have never seen a 4 valve head on an original 3-71 but according to the books they a made some.
