We have a Row Crop 60 with govenor problems. With all the linkage disconnected and working the carb by hand you can tell the govenor tries to work. Put all the linkage back on and the govenor doesn"t seem strong enough to overcome the spring and the engine would run away. I figure the govenor is worn out, missing parts, ect. Anyone have a diagram of what should be there? Be nice to have a picture to compare this one to when we remove it.

Thanks,

Make sure the govenor linkage is adjusted properly. While the throttle lever is at full throttle, pull the pin out of the clevis on the govenor link, the holes should line-up and the butter-fly in the carb is completely open.

That I have done. The engine would come apart if you pulled the throttle open and left it that way. The govenor can't overcome the spring on the throttle linkage. I took the governor out and don't see anything obviously wrong. No doubt something is out of whack. Love to see a pic of what the linkage should look like and what pieces should be in the govenor in case there are some shims missing.

There are no shims. Remember springs give it more weights take it away. Now with that said look at the "clips stops what ever you wantcall them and count how mnay coils are between there. Then get back with us.

I think it is whipped. With all the linkage disconnect, the governor arm in one hand and the carb in the other I found where the idle position should be on the governor and discovered the linkage back to the dash to be WAY out of whack. It seems to work OK now. Thanks for the thoughts and help.
