88 diesel fuel in oil

A friend of mine has an 88 diedel and he's getting diesel in the crankcase. Is there a seal in the diesel pump that could be leaking or could fuel be going by the rings. Thanks for any help.

Depends on the pump some have a seal that will do that

The first thing I would check is the hand pump(located under generator/alternator area on pulley side of engine).these have a rubber gasket that likes to fail after bout 50 years.
