Another Dowel Pin question: I will be using a 880 Crankshaft in a S88 block and the crank I will be using does not have the "Dowels" in the end of the Crank for the Flwheel/Drive Hub. Should I use the dowels that are in my 88 crank? Buy new ones or do I need them at all? BTW, this engine will be producing around 100hp with 404 cubes.

If the 880 crank is drilled for them and you can get the old ones out and Lock tite them it can't hurt anything less chance of working loose. How much stroke and bore do you have? Working on a 880 diesel myself just going from 265 to 300 770 rods 37/8 1650 flat tops.

What kind of horse you think you can get with that set-up? Will you use a different head also? Our 880 can muster 55 stock no better, motor rebuilt to stock with a roosa-master pump.

something is not right if you can only "muster" 55 H.P. out of a fresh 880. Pump& injectors??

Just what kind of horsepower would expect to get? Stock bore & stroke, stock RPM. Maybe the torque screw is set to a little short on horsepower and a little on the plus side for torque build up? Look up the official test. What kind of day was it when they checked it/ Was the dyno accurate? Just asking and trying to learn.

I would expect to get 60 plus if pump and injectors where done, and set to optimum. (assuming the guy dont live on a mountain)Nebraska test corrected to sea level is 61.85. What is the torque screw? Fuel delivery?

Remember Nebraska corrected test and observed horsepower are 2 different things. Observed will be less than corrected. He has a later 880 with a Roosa Fuel system which has a torque screw. A guy here pulls a 4020 with turbo and they check your horse power here. He pulls in three classes all by changing torque screw settings.

What does tourqe screw on roosa master do different than fuel delv.screw on bosch pump? I have heard that roosa master is a better pump for making power but have not talked to any one who really knew why?We pull with 880 RC and 880 STD.but they are 58 and 59 so both pre roosa master. Do you think it would be worth any significant power gain to switch timing cover and pump etc. over to roosa master?
