I have a question for someone who is well versed with an Oliver 1800a. I have an Oliver 1800a in very good shape. Will a three speed hydra-shift over/under fit on a 1960-61 Oliver 1800a? Right now there is just an open shaft where the hydra would be located, running from the engine back to the rear. If not, how about the two speed hydra? The engine is a 283 cu./in. Waukesha. Thanks.

I will disregruard the well versed part. The 1800 A series was new when I was new to Oliver. When the hydra-power became available Oliver offered a package to install these in the tractors made before this time. Many were installed. On the three speed. It will fit however take a look at the shift linkage. The fit part involves the small things. They were made for tractors with the throttle on the side instead of what you have. If I were to install a Hydra-Power (2-speed) I would take one out of a 50 series 1750,1850 gas. There are 3 major groups of those hydrapower drive which deal with internal improvements. Also take at look at the oil cooler set up. Later hydra-power units as well as the over under units have the oil coller mounted in front of the radiator. That is a start for what you asked about. More questions, ask away.
