Saginaw Hydramotor Leaking, Rebuild questions?

The hydramotor on my Oliver is leaking a pretty large mount of oil. I was wondering if a kit was available from Agco to rebuild this, or are they order each part separately type of deal? My dad gets by a distant Agco Dealer in his work travels and I"d like to know before I tell him what I need to have.

While I am asking, are these easy to rebuild at home? Or are they finiky enough to just order a rebuilt one(Like an IH T/A)?

Thanks,
TP

Rebuilds weather done yourself or by someone else do NOT last. There is no kit and its a little hard to do.The best fix is to replace with a char-lin unit. There should be plenty of old posts on this subject.

Hmmm, not what I wanted to hear..... .....I have plenty of experience with Charlynn's torque motors on older IH's with add on ps..... And the old saying is "If they aren't leaking they ain't working"(Unless these motors are magically different)..... .....In other words this seems like I am between a rock and a hard place(Smile).

Why exactly don't they hold up once rebuilt?

You have 3 places where it can leak. Where is it leaking? One is an oil seal, the other 2 are sealed with O-rings.

It is leaking where the top cast piece fits in the recess of the bottom cast piece. From my diagram it appears that an o-ring or two are there, but I could be wrong?

One thing I forgot, Saginaw (GM) got out of the business of hydramotors 35 years ago. Almost everyone used one at one time including the other green (2010 models) and I think even Ford had one for a while.

Close: One is an o-ring, the other one is a flat back-up ring. Larry has given some good advice, however if it steers fine, it might be in your best interest to just replace the seals for now. Questions?

It works good, just leaks a gusher of oil down the panel below the gage cluster. It seems to me that the failure is caused by the tilt wheel slamming that cause the o-ring to collapse at the top and bottom? I am a machinest so I am thinking their has to be a 100% solution to this, instead of replacing it. I won't be using it much this year so I'll probably leave it until next winter and tear into it and see what I can find.
