I'm curious about Cockshutts, maybe a next project. Anyway, don't know much about them but I do know they have Buda engines. So I'm wondering about how hard engine parts are to come by for them? Also, is it hard to find a 20, 30 or 40 in PA or NY state.

There are square noses available in the NY area. I bought one from a feller just over the border from Niagara Falls.

I have a Buda/Allis Chalmers FT=40 Fork lift. Nice old relic. I am replaceing the cracked manifold and have discovered that my old manifold probably was for propane. The new reproduced one doesn't have the provision for the extra throttle plate that the govenor linkage hooks to. I am assuming that now the Gov. must hook to the back of my carb. throttle shaft. Can you supply me with a photo or scanned page from a parts manual thta displays the corect linkage for the gov. to the throttle shaft?? I am thinking there must be some type of arm on the throttle shaft. Point me in the right direction, I will be thankful for your assistance.

On the first part, get yourself the second last NAPA catalog and see how many parts are listed. Why the second last instead of the last, they goofed when they printed it and left a lot out. Buda 153 & 230 engines were used in A-C fork lifts. Parts are fairly common. Also if you are a student of this game, for some items parts from the reengineered A-C 153 230 & 262 engines will substitute. Remember the A-C engines came about because they purchased Buda. Questions.

Are you refering to parts availability? The easiest is the 540. It has an F- model Continental. Again a fork lift thing. 550 & 570 models use Hercules engines. Depends on what you need. The 560 an L-4 or 270 Perkins depending on what year. Remember the Perkins is an English engine and those 2 models were only used by Cockshutt not Massey. Remember sometimes finding the parts needed is proportional to the size of the check book. Questions?
