Rick,
The 1958 560s used the L4 269.5 and the 1959
and later 560s used the 4-270 perkins QUESTIONS?
hope this helps Mike

Thanks Mike,

I had read an add for one that I might go look at.

My knowledge of Pekins engines is pretty well limited to the A3 152 in a FE35.

The second one sounds like an engine that went into a MF65? Are these British engines?

Thanks

Rick
yes massey used a similar engine I am not sure what massey it was in but do know some parts will
will cross over to the masseys My 560 and golden eagles use the L4 so I am not real familiar with
the 4-270. John Schwiebert might be able to help
us out here as he knows alot about the L4 and
4-270 he will know what masseys had that motor.

Mike: I am going to disreguard that last statement. My knowledge of a Perkins will fit on a match book cover and you do not have to write small either. Massy did NOT use either engine. Both the L-4 & 270 are four cylinder Perkins engines with wet sleeves. Massy did not use any set up like that. In fact and I got burnt once before on a similar statement Cockshutt was the only North American user of that engine. Cockshutt with that engine was also the first user of a Perkins in North American, in other words they had a Perkins in a tractor before Massy. I think the same engine was used in a British International MD. Maybe some over there can clearify that. Questions Thanks Mike, I though you were the Perkin wiss kid. later.

John,
What you dont know is not worth knowing? I was at the cockshutt spring meeting in Meadville several years ago when you spoke not only was I impressed with what you knew but your abillity to speak to a group of people. what I know about the perkins is only what I have learned from working on my own L4s (I like the perkins powered cockshutts)I just knew some of the massey perkins parts could be used on the 4-270 (Head parts like valves and such) Do you still have your 560? My e-mail is open if you ever want to talk. thanks Mike
