My rims need repair on our 1850. I want to pull them off and get them repaired. An Ag tire outfit will do the pull-off. Can the tractor be safely cribbed up using 6X6's while both wheels are off for a few weeks? Or, is this thing best done one wheel at a time? Thank you- mud

Does the tractor have the cast center sections? You will only be removing the rims. What I have done is jack up one side, remove the rim, then lower the jack so that the wheel center section rests on a piece of railroad tie. Then do the same on the other side, should be very safe, just don't let it roll.

Like Oleblu said, a hard, flat(concrete) surface is a must. Something with enough base length & width will work. Definately not cinder blocks!!. If you have heavy jack stands made for 4-5 ton each you should be alright. I don't know how much a rear of an 1850 weighs w/out the tires, but you may be able to use 3 ton jack stands. Don't take my word as gold on this though. Im just going off of my 1855, weighs about 13000 lbs, fluid in rears, front end loaded down. Thats about 6 1/2 tons. Not all of that is on the back end, maybe 4 ton. Split that on 2 3 ton stands and you just might be alright. Take off the tires(18.4-38's) and that's quite a bit there as well.

If it were me I'd put a hydraulic jack under the hitch frame on either side. That will only lift the tire on that side. Put a jack stand with enough capacity to support that side under the axle and set the tractor down on the stand. Remove the wheel and do the other side in the same manner. A good, solid, flat floor is required to do this. I've been sent on a few calls where someone tried to "skimp by", using no stands, one jack under the drawbar(no way!), Jacks or stands sinking because it was just a little gravel scattered over soft dirt, etc... Better to be safe than sorry.
