Hi, can anyone tell me if the 4wd shaft that connects the transfer case to the front differential is the same as other Oliver's with 4wd? How about the White tractors that had the same engine as the 2150? Thanks, Jeff

If you need a new shaft go to a good drive shaft shop they should be able to make a new one or repair your old shaft.

rooster,
I checked my parts books this morning they show it
in two parts the long part of the shaft is
165802A and the short part is 155284AS they show both numbers are used on your 2150 and the following tractors 1650,1655,1750,1755,1800,1850,
1855,1955,2255,2-70,2-85,and 2-105 some of the industrial tractors also used this drive shaft.
hope this helps you out. Mike

Thanks for the info Mike! I have 2 2150 parts books and neither one of them breaks down the shaft, it just has the entire shaft assembly. In my 1600 parts book, it breaks down the shaft assembly and the small end of the shaft is 155284AS and the large part is 155276A. So apparently the small part of the shaft is common to all the 4wd Olivers and they changed something on the large part, probably the length. I wonder why the 1600 is different than the 1650. Ok, thanks for your help, Jeff

Rooster--I believe all Olivers with FWA and the Clark front axle had the same shaft except for the length difference. Almost every series required a different length. I would say that 1600, 1650, and 1655 tractors had the same length. That goes for 1750,1755,1800,1850 gas, 1855, 1950-T, and 1955 tractors. 1850 diesels were probably different length. 1900 and 1950 should be the same. 2050 and 2150 should be the same. As mentioned, a parts book check would be the best way to determine an exact match.

No. The shaft coming out of the front of the transmission that goes into the transfer case is longer. This long shaft could have been ordered from the factory on a 2 wheel drive tractor but it is rare. Thats why you have to tear into the transmission to replace that shaft.

I am talking about the shaft that connects the transfer case to the front differential. It is on the outside of the tractor and turns all the time when the tractor is moving. It has splines on it for the shaft to compress and expand to move with the front diff and the ends of the shaft have yokes like a universal joint that connects it to each end. Hope this helps, Jeff

Rooster, The only way you would know for sure is to compare part numbers for your 2150 and the shaft from the doner tractors drive shaft. The parts books for the 2150 etc. are hard to find, as most of that info is on fiche (spelling?????).
