The more I think about it the more I want to sell the last IH I have and buy another Oliver. I was wondering if the 1855 was NA or has a Turbo? Is it best to go with something like a 1955 to get the turbo concerning the 310?

the 1855 came with a naturally aspirated 354 perkins diesel. which is a way better motor. the 310 waukeshaw is well known for blowing the head gasket. there is an after market turbo available for this tractor if you wanted a tractor with a turbo

Not quite. The 1855 has the Wauk 310, The 1850 has the Perkins. And yes, it has a nice Garrett Turbo.

1955 had a couple advantages over the 1855. Both used same turbo set-up, however, injection pump on the 1955 is slightly larger displacement. All 1955s had factory oil coolers, whereas only 1855s made 1974 and later had factory oil coolers. There was an aftermarket oil cooler available for these pre-74 1855s, and many have been fitted with it. You'll love either one. Research the archives here and you can read more on the 310. When looking at any prospective purchase of a 310, take a flashlight with you and look through the dipstick hole to see which rod bolts are installed. You want to see 12 point heads, not 6 point. Happy hunting!

Yeah, I'll admitt I do..... ....And I really hate using that 504 on a loader. With not even 3000 hrs on it and in good condition it should be a collectors tractor, not a worker.

You thinking about putting a loader on a1855?
If so you should talked to SHEP VA or look at some of the posts and pictures he has put up. He has a pretty big loader on a1855 and wound up replacingnthe front end to increase it's durability.
